MARCUS FIORAVANTE

Marcus creates large-scale pageantry puppets, breathing new life into an old folk tradition of public parades. He has worked in the field of puppetry and folk art for the last 10 years, with Bread and Puppet Theater in Vermont and Paper Hand Puppet Intervention in North Carolina. He is a core member of All the Saints Theater Company in Richmond, which puts on a large-scale puppet parade every Halloween.  Puppetry is one of the oldest and boldest forms of art, demanding a multimedia approach through painting, sculpting, recycling, and design: all blending into an intensive art form filled with curiosity and joy.

“Puppetry is one of the most inclusive and accessible forms of art. Whether you are creating puppets from a sock or found objects to pulling cardboard out of the trash to be shaped and bent into fantastical creatures, there is a part in the process for everyone.”
